The 54th Annual CYC Sports Award Banquet will be held on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at the Crowne Plaza in Clayton.  Each year we honor the volunteers that donate their time and talent to the CYC.  Please click HERE for the history of the Banquet, this year's awardees, and information on how to join us for this special evening.   

The CYC is sponsoring the 55th Annual Bob Guelker Boys High School Soccer Tournament starting Monday September 21st and ending Saturday September 26th.  Once again there will be 4 divisions of play.  Two of the divisions (Meyer and Walsh) play a World Cup Pool format, while the other two divisions (Maxwell and Sullivan) play a traditional consolation bracket format.  In all there are 39 teams participating this year, with many of the top teams in the area battling for the championship.  Come out and watch great high school soccer, and many players who have grown up playing CYC sports.  Check the High School Soccer Tournament page of this website to see when your favorite teams will be playing. 

Congratulations to these former CYC players who have been recognized for their academic and athletic achievements by their schools and conferences.

Annie Lopez is a sophomore defensive specialist on the University of Missouri's volleyball team.  Annie was chosen by Omicron Delta Kappa, the national leadership honor society, as one of the top freshmen at the University of Missouri.  Lopez carries a 3.8 grade-point average while majoring in textile apparel management with a minor in Spanish.  When she graduates she hopes to work as a merchandiser in either Spain or Italy.  Annie played CYC sports at St Catherine Laboure.  Way to go Annie! 

Freshman midfielder, Nick Maglasang was named the Athlantic 10 conference's men's soccer Rookie of the Week.  Nick scored his first collegiate goal and had an assist in the Billiken's win over Loyola Chicago on September 12th.  CollegeSoccerNews.com also named Maglasang as one of the "100 Freshman to Keep an Eye On" this year.  Everyone kept an eye on Nick when he played CYC soccer, basketball at baseball for his CYC teams at Seven Holy Founders.

If you went to the CYC Night at SLU Volleyball you probably noticed #4 on the Billikens, Bridget Fonke, who received an "I Played CYC Sports" t-shirt.  This past week the senior outside hitter for St Louis University was named co-Offensive Player of the Week in the Atlantic 10 conference.  Bridget smacked 18 kills for the Bills against #4 Hawaii, along with 9 digs.  She led her team with 35 kills in 3 matches at the Hawaiin Airlines Classic.  Bridget honed those skills while playing CYC volleyball and basketball for St. Genevieve DuBois.
