The CYC would like to congratulate and recognize two more of our former players for their academic and athletic achievements at the collegiate level.

Kelsey Luna grew up playing her CYC sports at St. Gabriel.  Today she is a senior shooting guard for the Indiana State Sycamores, where she has just been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team.  This is the third year in a row Kelsey has been named to the team.  Kelsey has a perfect 4.0 grade-point average in Psychology.  She has also been honored twice this year as the Missouri Valley Player of the Week.  She has scored over 1,000 points in her career at Indiana State, and scored a career best 37 points against Kansas State earlier this season.  Currently she averages 14.2 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game.  She leads the nation in free throw percentage at 93.4%, making 71 of 76 free throws.

Best of all, she will be playing in the Missouri Valley Women's Tournament in mid-March, which is at the Family Arena in St. Charles.  Her team has a good chance of playing in the semi-finals of that tournament, which just happens to be CYC NIGHT, Saturday March 13th with games at 5:00pm and 7:30pmALL CYC PLAYERS GET IN FREE IF THEY WEAR THEIR JERSEYS.  Can't beat that deal.  So come out and root on a fellow CYC player at the Missouri Valley Women's Championships!!!

In his first week of intercollegiate competition, freshman Matt Hohenberger was named the Northeast Collegiate Volleyball Association Rookie of the Week.  Matt averaged 5 points, 4 kills and an ace per set while sporting a .417 hitting average.  He helped his MIT team achieve a national ranking of No. 13.  The Engineers finished their tournament with a 4-1 record.  Before heading to Cambridge, Massachusetts Matt played his CYC sports at Queen of All Saints in the South County District.

The CYC is proud of these and all our former players who continue to be great role models for our current student athletes.
