Show
appreciation for your Priest all Catholic Scouters
and friends of Catholic Scouting: Many of us wear
multiple hats in Catholic Scouting and are active
in our parish community. Here is an event that you
can wear two hats.Take time to make a difference
in the life of a priest, your pastor, Catholic Chaplain,
or your bishop. The 5th annual Priesthood Sunday,
which is October 26, 2008, is a special day set
aside to honor a priest and affirm the priesthood
in the Church in the United States. We are called
to help parishioners honor Christ as Priest and
the men who were called to be his priests on earth.
It is also a day to honor all religious and to focus
on the importance of Church vocations. With the
help of informed leaders, Catholic Scout Packs,
Troops and Venture Crews can make a special effort
to involve youth to make appreciation cards to be
presented after Mass on October 26 or at an event
planned in their parish.
Be leaders in your parish and Scouting Units, print
the attachment on this link: Priesthood
Sunday and help plan a Priesthood Sunday .
Consider
having your Cubs and Boy Scouts and Venturers
and Girl scouts make Priest Appreciation Cards
for your pastor, priest friends and the Diocesan
Chaplain for Catholic Scouting and your local
ordinary.

Catholic
Committee on Scouting, BSA
|
|
The
Catholic Committee on Scouting, BSA, was formed in the
1950's to oversee the development of a spiritual presence
in the activities of the Boy Scout programs. The St.
Louis Archdiocese, through its parishes and schools,
is the largest single sponsor of Scouts in the St. Louis
area. The Catholic Committee is a group of people, lay
and religious who believe that the scouting is a viable
form of youth ministry with the Catholic church. Youth
in scouting should be helped with their spiritual citizenship
as well as their earthly citizenship. Most of the members
are active in scouting in other way, but they have dedicated
themselves to this extra effort. We are always looking
for new members, don't hesitate to offer your services.
An extra mind, fresh ideas and pair of hands can really
make a difference. We meet four times a year at
the Cardinal Rigali Center at 7:30 p.m..
Come
to our meetings or call to learn more about who we are
and what we do! If you want to join the committee
click on the link below, complete the application and
return to the Office of Catholic Scouting.

National Federation for Catholic Youth
Ministry, participate in the mission
of the Catholic Church by advocating
for and supporting Catholic youth
ministry on the national, diocesan,

the role of the Church and the Gospel
in the lives of young people, promote
a comprehensive approach to youth
ministry as articulated in Renewing
the Vision, provide leadership,
resources, services, and conferences

diocesan leaders, youth ministers,
and young people, support diocesan
youth ministry leaders and collaborating
members, dialogue and collaborate

for the promotion of youth ministry
and the professional development of church

values: the dignity and giftedness

of young people, the richness of diversity,
